Yesterday evening (Thurs 17th Aug) got back from a 3 day break down in Weymouth. Being away meant a change from my usual shooting habits with a bias towards private family shots and keepsakes. Being at the coast provides its own challenges - the light can be very different especially when right next to open sea, and there is the salty air to contend with.
I deliberately chose my dates to coincide with the display by the Red Arrows. The last time I saw one of their displays the weather was unfortunately very grey with low cloud and drizzle making photographing the planes very difficult as visibility was reduced. In conditions like that you really appreciate how good the human eye or rather brain is as the display is still seen clearly by the audience despite the reduced visibility which makes photos look soft and dull. This time the conditions and visibility were great - nice clear skies with plenty of blue - maybe a little bit too much background cloud but hey photographers are never satisfied lol. Having been through the shots on the laptop I am please I have got several nice and sharp hopefully catching the majesty of the display.
